General Ed.  is a guitar-based musical and creative project started by brothers, Michael and Gabriel Godwin. We describe our music as fun and melodic blues rock with the guitar as the driving force. We are biological brothers who grew up together enjoying the same types of entertainment and having fun together throughout our childhood while finding ways to express ourselves creatively. We grew up in a household of two parents who worked in education and had a deep love for music. They also instilled in us from day one a love and respect for music, specifically guitar music, so when it came time for us to pick up the guitar, we couldn't put it down.

We formed the band back in late 2015 while we were both in high school and have gone through a couple line-up changes before our drummer, Acxel Bravo, joined the band. We went through a variety of names before settling on General Ed. General Ed. just seemed like a ridiculous and unorthodox name for a rock band and we loved it. We like the idea that we as musicians and songwriters can also be advocates of education and the importance and power of a quality education on society as a whole.

We take the music we make seriously because we put so much of ourselves into the songs we write, and the fact that we are able to make music so naturally together is something that we truly value. Even though we take our songwriting seriously, we don't like to take ourselves too seriously. Having fun being a musical team is what really matters and staying humble and making the most of our opportunities to make music together is always our goal. We love the art of the guitar and the power of a beautifully crafted guitar solo, and we are always pushing ourselves as musicians to become the best we can be at our instruments.

We started this project together before we even had a clue what we were doing, but even back in the days when we recorded ourselves on an single $8 usb microphone in our drummer's garage, we had an urge and a passion to write and record our own music. We have since played countless live shows, recorded in professional studios, and met some incredible fellow musicians, all while honing our songwriting abilities and musical tastes. We have released an album, an EP, a live EP, and several singles, and in more recent days, we have developed a passion for music production and studio recording.

It has always been a dream of ours to have our own recording studio with the freedom to write and record together in a familiar, comfortable, and freely creative space. We finally started building this musical dream together and we recorded a full album in a home studio of our own, taking the time we felt each song needed and creating a collection of songs that we were really passionate about. We are so excited to release this new album in July of 2022. Stay tuned for single releases, music videos, and announcements to come!
